Something home made for Winter

Feeding your cat

Cats require the right proportions of protein, calories, vitamins and minerals for their particular stage of life. Ensure you have fresh drinking water available at all times and change the water daily. In hot weather it’s a good idea to give two full bowls of water.

Due to their rapid growth, kittens at three or four weeks old need to eat at least three times a day, reducing to twice a day at five or six months.

In the early months, you should let kitty eat as much as it wants. It is hard for kittens to overeat.

When your cat is around eight or nine months, it should move on to adult cat food.

Premium adult cat foods are carefully formulated to contain more moderate amounts of protein in exactly the right balance for the adult cat.

Senior cats expend less energy and sleep more. Cats begin to show their age at 8 to 10 years, with diminished abilities to smell, taste, chew and digest.

Make sure an older cat has food that is highly digestible and palatable.
